bloc party quickie.

By suckerdjs

I just received my special press copy of Bloc Party’s latest album, Intimacy. They rolled out the Rapidshare Record release strategy and pulled a Radiohead, announcing the arrival of their third album within days of a digital release.

My eyes shot out of their sockets when the first track came nose diving inside my ears like a Russian soldier blistering Georgia. It’s called “Ares,” and if you remember the first time you heard Bono sounding like he was singing from deep inside a well on the opening track off of Achtung Baby, then you can relate to the dish-shattering riffs and racket delivered here as Kele goes in on some Bernard Sumner circa Electronic-era semi-rapping. I’m liking this already!

The next song is Mercury. Here’s a Flosstradamus remix if you haven’t heard the original yet. I really like this song and how since the one-off single that was “Flux,” Bloc Party have been flirting with synth-pop and giving it their post-punk crunch.

As for this one song stand with “Ares”? Intimacy seems that it might be a potential hottie worth deep, long and sensual love making sessions. I will be back with proper discourse after I soak all this Intimacy up.

In the mean time, go buy the textbook, Sex Ed is back…

If you liked The Planet of The Apes, watch the video for “Mercury”:
